China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) announced on 16 Nov 2012 the cancellation of the qualification of five foreign solid waste suppliers.

The names and certification numbers of the companies were published on AQSIQ’s website and the local bureau for inspection and quarantine shall reject the entry of the solid waste provided by the listed  companies. The companies can appeal to the AQSIQ within 60 days of the cancellation.

China adopts registration management on importation of the solid waste. The Chinese importers and foreign supplier of solid waste shall apply to the AQSIQ for importation registration of solid waste. The overseas supplying companies shall establish quality management system or ISO/RIOS certificated, and copies of the certification shall be submitted when applying the registration of solid waste. Validation period for the registration certification is 3 years and the registrants shall apply for extension within 90 days before the expiration.
